Hive Drive: Build Better Classrooms

The Honeycomb Project is thrilled to continue our longstanding partnership with Chicago Trading Company to make a meaningful impact this holiday season. As lead sponsors of Hive Drive: Build Better Classrooms, we will be benefiting CPS teachers served by Creative Chicago Reuse Exchange (CCRX)! Below, please find all the information you need to get started.

Our Goal
This project helps people and the planet! Chicago teachers report spending $500 to $2000 out-of-pocket every year for necessary classroom supplies like paper, pencils, books, and even cleaning supplies. Local businesses dispose of materials that teachers could use for their students. By finding supply donations a new home, your work at this project reduces waste, helps teachers save resources, and improves the classroom experience.

Collecting Donations
Begin collecting with friends or family. You are free to source gently used items or buy new ones. Acceptable donations include things like markers, calculators, and note pads. Click here to review CCRx’s full list of “Most Wanted Items.”

Keep an eye out for Honeycomb- branded collection boxes around the CTC office. Collection deadline is Friday, January 6th at 5:00PM.

Help Organize with Honeycomb
If you are interested/available, Honeycomb is hosting an in-person opportunity to help organize donations at the Envision Unlimited Frick Center on Saturday, January 7th (10:00AM-11:30AM). Registration is limited, so visit the event page to learn more and RSVP.
