About Us

We envision a city where every young person has the opportunity to drive real change through meaningful acts of service.

For more than a decade, Honeycomb has served as Chicago’s go-to organization for family volunteering. Kids ages 3-17 discover and harness their power to shape the future through immersive service projects that amplify the work of local nonprofits.

Our family-centered programs help young changemakers tackle global issues like food insecurity, housing, social justice, and climate change. Kids work and learn alongside their parents, preparing home-cooked meals at shelters, growing fresh vegetables at city farms, and building nature trails along the Chicago River. Honeycomb families share an ethic of civic responsibility and a spirit of community that spans generations, helping transform Chicago’s communities for years to come.

In 2022, 4,000 volunteers representing 98% of Chicago’s zip codes participated in Honeycomb programs.


 

Lasting Impact

Chicago nonprofits work tirelessly to support the communities they serve, and we are honored to fortify their important work.

Companies like yours play a vital role in fueling our programs. Last year, Honeycomb provided essential resources and people power to more than 40 local organizations on a regular basis.

We remained nimble and responsive to our partners’ changing needs- bringing added stability and leadership to their volunteer efforts. We created 200 family-centered volunteer projects; new partners included Love Fridge, Nourishing Hope, Chicago Furniture Bank, Sanctuary Hospice, Lurie Children’s Hospital, Open Books, Social Works, and others.

An annual membership fee will afford your company to the following year-long benefits:

Queen Bee Membership ($2,500)

  • Six (6) Honeycomb at Home virtual volunteer lessons housed on a co-branded web page

  • Annual supply drive (in-office or remote)

  • Early registration for 30 volunteer spots annually at Honeycomb public programs or custom volunteer project up to 30 people*

  • Logo recognition on Honeycomb’s website

  • BONUS! Team Bonding Day- Help run concessions for the Chicago Cubs!

*Consumable/donated supplies may incur an additional cost.

Beekeeper Membership ($5,000)    

  • Twelve (12) Honeycomb at Home Virtual volunteer lessons houses on a co-branded web page.

  • Biannual supply drive (in-office or remote)

  • Early registration for 60 volunteer spots annually at Honeycomb public programs or custom volunteer projects up to 60 people*

  • Logo recognition on Honeycomb’s website

  • Logo recognition on Honeycomb’s monthly newsletter (sent to 8,000 Chicago-area households)

  • BONUS! Team Bonding Day- Help run concessions for the Chicago Cubs!
