Community Connections: Alliance for the Great Lakes

Protect the Midwest's biggest source of fresh water - the Great Lakes! Lake Michigan provides fresh drinking water to our city and sustains a diverse ecosystem of plants and animals. Taking care of this natural resource is a community effort we can all take part in.

It is estimated that more than 22 million pounds of plastic end up in the Great Lakes every year. Our partners at Alliance for the Great Lakes have created a Plastic-Free Toolkit to provide lake lovers with tips on how we can all care for the Great Lakes. We can make decisions in our every day lives to protect our fresh water resources. Read over these tips and make tangible change as a family.
