Honeycomb Pollinators
Putting Kids at the Forefront of Social Change
Look How Far We’ve Come
We envision a city where youth of all ages can drive real change through meaningful acts of service.
Since our founding in 2011, The Honeycomb Project has mobilized more than 40,000 kids and their families in the spirit of generosity, strengthening Chicago’s nonprofit sector through volunteerism and civic action.
You bring our mission to life! Families like yours return to Honeycomb again and again to tackle global issues on a local level. Last year alone, 4,000 volunteers participated in 200+ high-impact projects to address important issues affecting our community like food insecurity, housing, climate change, and social justice.
Help Us Grow
Pollinators is your family’s opportunity to take the lead by sponsoring a year of programming and address the issues your family are most passionate about. Much like how honey bees grow bountiful gardens, Honeycomb Pollinators fortify our programs and grow the Honeycomb hive.
Last year's cohort of Pollinator Families funded more than 9 year-round programs and mobilized upwards of 2,400 volunteers in meaningful service. We've set a goal of expanding to 12+ families in 2024 - can you help us achieve that?
This family-centered opportunity involves your children in your family’s giving back. Beyond volunteering at our projects, Honeycomb Pollinators have an insider view of The Honeycomb Project. Your family will help inform program plans, convene with other supporters, and set an example for new Honeycomb families.
There are so many ways to give – and with Honeycomb Pollinator sponsorships starting at just $100 per month, we’ve even had children use birthday parties or bakes ales to be involved in raising their own funds!
Where We’re Going
Honeycomb programs are vital to our city now more than ever.
More than 50 organizations rely on Honeycomb to provide essential resources and the volunteers needed to support the communities they serve. Through our programs, we aim to help kids deepen their connection to our city’s communities, develop passion for various social causes, and feel the measurable impact of their direct service.
To meet the growing demand from nonprofits and families, we have an ambitious plan to put 10+ new projects on our monthly schedule this year.

About Us
The Honeycomb Project is Chicago’s go-to organization for family volunteering and civic engagement. For more than a decade, we’ve provided vital resources, leadership and volunteers to Chicago’s nonprofits. Our family-centered programs put kids ages 3-17 at the forefront of social change, helping whole families learn, give, and grow together.
Last year, over 4,000 volunteers from 88% of Chicago’s neighborhoods participated in Honeycomb programs. Our projects address the immediate needs of local nonprofit working in areas such as food insecurity, housing, environmental conservation, social justice, and public health.
