Buescher Family

The Buescher Family is answering the call to make a difference.

“I knew I found something special for our son, at an early age,” says Teresa. Teresa and her husband, Randy, and their son Nate’s first Honeycomb project was sorting goods at a Free Store in Humboldt Park when Nate was seven years old.

The Buescher’s continued love of service has impacted hundreds of Chicago families in need. Nate, now 15 years old, is an advocate for food insecurity and spreads his message in the city of Chicago every chance he gets. His family has helped to make over 500 meals in the last few years.

“Food is a basic right that we should all have,” stresses Teresa. “Nate has been volunteering with Honeycomb for several years and it was during Covid when he stepped up.”

The Buescher’s have provided meals to Saint Sabina’s Food Pantry in the Auburn Gresham neighborhood. Through Honeycomb, the family has packed and prepared healthy, free boxed lunches to families experiencing homelessness.

“The human connection that Honeycomb provides through this volunteer project is such an important part of service to my family,” says Teresa.

The Buescher Family is on a mission to make 50 more meals than last year, for those in need this Thanksgiving. Teresa says, “Nate and I made 300 meals last time…and this year, our goal is to make 350 meals at Saint Sabina’s.”

“We all need food,” says Teresa… “and having that direct impact on a person is key to us.” “We don’t know what that person is struggling with beyond the surface…but if we can make a positive impact on that person for one moment with one meal, that makes a difference.”

The Buescher Family lives in Wicker Park with their two dogs, Olive and Dude. Randy is a voice coach and Teresa is an event planner. Nate is a sophomore at Lincoln Park High School and performs for a hip-hop company. He also dances with the Chicago Bulls, is an actor and enjoys playing lacrosse. The family loves to cook, go fishing and travel together.
