caring for our environment

Our environment sustains the health of our communities by cleaning our air, filtering our water, providing shelter and food for diverse ecosystems and so much more.

Nature teaches us that we are all connected and responsible for caring for our collective home. From upcycling waste and preserving native species, to exploring environmental justice movements, learn more about how your family can protect people and planet with Honeycomb at Home: Environment.

We’re in this together

Your gift today helps sustain Honeycomb at Home as a free public resource available to kids, families, and teacher during the COVID-19 crisis. Through engaging self-guided activities, kids learn social responsibility, empathy, and civic action. Lessons that last a lifetime.

Every $35 you donate mobilizes one new volunteer — $100 mobilizes a whole family.

People and Planet

Environmental stewardship happens outside AND inside the home. Today, we want you to look at the objects in your home differently. Is that a water bottle or a pot for a plant? A t-shirt or a reusable grocery bag? Check out this lesson about the Rebuilding Exchange, a local nonprofit that's reusing construction waste in creative ways.

Energize with the Earth

How can we make our world a little more green? Shubhendu Sharma grows ultra-dense, biodiverse mini-forests of native species in urban areas. Using the production method of a car company, Shubhendu was able to engineer soil, microbes and biomass to kickstart natural growth processes. Learn about his tiny forest revolution and how you can get in on this tiny jungle party.
